Lightroom Presets
- What are Lightroom presets? What are the benefits of using Lightroom presets?
Lightroom presets are one-click filters that automatically enhance your photos to create beautiful, cohesive, and polished imagery. Using our presets can save you hours on post-processing while ensuring stunning edits across your photo collection!
Keep in mind, because each photo is unique (different lighting, exposure, etc.), you may need to adjust settings like exposure, contrast, or temperature to get the perfect look. For more info, check out our blog post.
- I’m new to Lightroom/photography, can I still use your presets? What comes with each preset collection?
Absolutely! Our presets are designed to help beginners achieve professional-quality edits quickly. They work great for travel photos, portraits, events, and more.
Each preset collection includes:
- Mobile DNG files and Desktop XMP files
- A step-by-step installation guide with screenshots
Note: Desktop presets use the newer .XMP format (since Lightroom’s April 2018 update). If you have an older version, you can import the DNG files and save them as presets.
- What if the mobile preset files show up as blank images on my phone?
This is normal! These files appear as blank or black/white photos in your camera roll. Once you import them into the Lightroom mobile app, you’ll see the actual preset preview.
NOTE: These files are cover photos created with the preset settings embedded into them.
- Do I need to shoot in RAW?
Shooting in RAW is recommended for desktop presets to access full image data. However, our presets (especially mobile ones) work well on JPEGs, including iPhone and Android photos.
- What if the desktop files say “Unsupported File”?
That message is expected. The files will work once imported into Lightroom. Your computer or Dropbox might show this because they don’t recognize the preset format outside Lightroom.
- Do I need to purchase Adobe software? What’s the difference between desktop and mobile presets?
Mobile: Lightroom Mobile is free and supports mobile presets (.DNG files) for JPEG photos.
Desktop: Requires a Lightroom Classic subscription. Desktop presets (.XMP files) work on Lightroom Classic (v7.3+), optimized for RAW files from DSLR cameras.
- Do these work on Android?
Yes, they do!
- Can I use these presets to edit my videos?
Photo presets can be applied to videos only if you subscribe to Lightroom Mobile’s monthly plan. Alternatively, check out our one-time purchase video presets designed for the free VN Video App (iPhone & Android).
Video Filters
- What are video filters (LUTS)?
Video filters, or LUTs, are preset files that you import into video editing software to apply a specific aesthetic or color grade to your videos.
- What mobile apps can I use your video filters on?
We recommend using the free VN Video App available on both iPhone and Android.
- Are your video filters desktop compatible?
Our .CUBE LUT files can be used on desktop editors like Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and more. However, our video filters are optimized for mobile use, so desktop results may vary. We do not provide a desktop installation guide.
- Will the filters work with just one click?
While designed for one-click use, slight adjustments might be needed due to variations in lighting, camera settings, and footage. Our included instructions guide offers tips to fine-tune your edits.
