No matter how great an image is, an overcast sky can make any photo look dull and lackluster. Luckily, there are just a few steps to quickly fix gloomy skies in Lightroom.

Before we get started, please note that making these adjustments requires the paid subscription in Lightroom mobile.

1. Apply a Preset

The first thing you’ll want to do is apply a preset to your photo so that you ensure you have the edit you want in place before making any editing adjustments to the sky.

2. Go to Masking > Select Sky

In Lightroom mobile, you’ll see an option in the Tools bar called Masking – click on that.

In Masking, you’ll see a blue plus sign appear. Click that button, then click Select Sky.

Lightroom will then automatically select and mask the sky (this step may take a few seconds) so that you can make adjustments solely to the sky.

3. Adjust the Temperature

Once the sky has been selected, click on the Color tab in the tools bar and drag the Temperature slider as far to the left as you desire.

Then click the checkmark in the bottom right corner and you’re done!
